World No Tobacco Day

May 31st  is the World No Tobacco Day sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Quitting smoking is a major step towards longevity. The first point of the New European Code Against Cancer reads:

"Do not smoke; if you smoke, quit. If you cannot quit, do not smoke in the presence of non-smokers".

If no one smoked, lung cancer would be an almost non-existent illness and the incidence of cancer of the mouth and bladder (which is exposed to toxins eliminated through urine) would be greatly reduced.

LILT has always been involved in the education to "overcome" the smoking addiction and inform people about the damaging effects of cigarettes.

LILT is committed to the fight against smoking, with the aim to provide health education to a growing number of citizens, starting from school-aged children.

Since 1993, LILT Bologna has been an official LILT Antismoking Center in Italy and organizes anti-smoking courses.
